The playstation 4 dualshock controller is one of the best video game controller ever made, it's comfortable and very good for all type of games. But the PS4 controller is not just for playing games on PS4 console, you can also use it on your android device. So in this article i will show you how to use PS4 controller on android.
The dualshock 4 is basically a bluetooth controller (bluetooth gamepad), so you can use it on any bluetooth enabled device like android smartphones or tablets. Besides using bluetooth (wireless), the PS4 controller also supports cable connection, meaning you can use micro usb cable and connect to android device with the help of OTG adapter.
So basically you can connect the dualshock 4 controller to your android smartphone in two ways, using wireless bluetooth or using micro usb cable + OTG adapter.
How to connect PS4 controller to android using bluetooth
- enter pairing mode on PS4 controller by pressing playstation button and share button at the same time for a few seconds until the lightbar on the controller blinks rapidly
- next go to your android device and open settings and find the bluetooth section, turn on bluetooth and you should see the controller appear on the list devices, select that and start pairing
- if done correctly, you can move around cursor by moving the analog or d-pad on the PS4 controller.
- to disconnect simply turn off bluetooth on your android device
press and hold playstation button and share button at the same time for a few seconds until the light blinks rapidly
How to connect PS4 controller to android using cable
to connect PS4 controller with android using cable, you will need two things, micro usb cable and micro usb OTG adapter. Plug the OTG adapter on the smartphone/tablet and connect to the PS4 controller.
NOTES:
- after using the PS4 controller on android via wireless bluetooth, next time you want to use the controller on PS4 console again, you will need to plug the controller to the PS4 console with usb cable, if not the PS4 console won't be able to detect the wireless controller.
- there are two type of PS4 controller, the first generation (CUH-ZCT1G) and the second generation (CUH-ZCT2G), only the second generation controller that support cable connection.
- not all android games support gamepad/controller, but most game emulator on android support gamepad.
